Classification Architecture (CLA™) was created to provide a stable
classification governance architecture that remains applicable
regardless of how technologies, organizations, AI systems,
regulatory frameworks, and operational environments evolve.
CLA™ does not define classification taxonomies, business categories,
regulatory classifications, AI models, software implementations,
databases, or technical classification algorithms.

Why CLA™ Exists
Most classification initiatives focus on taxonomy design, datalabeling, categorization, metadata, regulatory coding, machine
learning, or information organization.
These perspectives are valuable, but none of them alone answers one
fundamental governance question:
How should classifications themselves be established, governed,
validated, managed, exchanged, interpreted, and continuously
assured?
CLA™ addresses this question by defining the governable
classification spaces that exist throughout the complete
classification lifecycle.
Rather than standardizing one classification system, CLA™
standardizes the governance conditions under which classifications
can be formally established, objectively evaluated, independently
validated, operationally governed, interoperably exchanged,
transformed into trustworthy intelligence, and continuously assured.
Classification Before Implementation
The objective of CLA™ is not to prescribe how classifications mustbe technically implemented.
The objective is to define how classifications must remain
governable.

Each space begins where the previous classification governance
requirement has been sufficiently established.

Classification Spaces Rather Than Technical Components
CLA™ does not organize classification governance around softwareproducts, AI models, databases, taxonomies, departments, or
implementation technologies.
Instead, it organizes governance around distinct classification
spaces.
Each classification space represents an independent governance
responsibility that exists regardless of any specific technology,
platform, vendor, sector, implementation method, or operational
environment.
Because classification spaces are technology-neutral and
domain-independent, CLA™ remains applicable as classification
technologies, AI capabilities, regulatory environments, operational
models, and governance requirements continue to evolve.
A Methodology Rather Than an Implementation
CLA™ is a governance methodology.It is not a technical implementation framework.
The architecture defines which classification conditions must exist,
how they relate to one another, where governance responsibility
begins, and what must be objectively demonstrated.
Organizations remain free to determine how classifications are
implemented within their own technical, operational, organizational,
legal, and regulatory environments.
