Canonical Definition Extension
Validation governance cannot begin reliably until the exact objectto which validation applies has been established.
Validation Object Standard therefore governs the transformation of a
candidate subject of validation into a formally established
Validation Object.
The standard establishes the governance conditions necessary
to determine:
- what exactly is being validated,
- which object instance is subject to validation,
- where the object begins and ends,
- which version, configuration, or operational state is being examined,
- which material relationships and dependencies affect the object,
- whether material changes have altered the object,
- and whether the object is sufficiently established to enter governed validation.
VOBS does not determine whether the object is valid.
VOBS does not prescribe the technical testing procedures through
which an object must be examined.
VOBS determines whether the object itself has been established with
sufficient methodological and governance precision for validity to
be meaningfully assessed.
Purpose
The purpose of Validation Object Standard is to ensure that everygoverned validation process begins with a clearly established and
methodologically usable Validation Object.
The standard prevents validation conclusions from becoming
ambiguous, detached from the object examined, incorrectly
transferred between versions or configurations, or applied beyond
the boundaries of the original validation.
Governance Objective
VOBS establishes the foundational validation-object governance layerrequired to support subsequent validation governance.
The standard seeks to ensure that:
- Validation Objects are uniquely identifiable,
- validation boundaries are explicit,
- relevant versions, configurations, and states are known,
- material relationships are visible,
- dependencies affecting validation are recognized,
- material object changes remain traceable,
- validation conclusions remain connected to the object actually examined,
- and validation readiness can be objectively determined.
Operational Role
Validation Object Standard serves as the entry point of the VALIDOS™validation governance lifecycle.
It converts an undefined, proposed, selected, or externally supplied
subject of validation into a governed Validation Object capable of
entering subsequent validation governance.
VOBS establishes the authoritative reference object to which
subsequent validation scope, criteria, methodology, evidence
assessment, execution, determination, state, reliance, and
revalidation activities apply.
No validation determination should be considered methodologically
complete when the exact object to which that determination applies
cannot be established.

Validation Object Governance Model
VOBS establishes the following governance progression:Candidate Subject → Object Identification → Object Boundary → Object
Version → Object Relationships → Object Fitness → Validation
Readiness → Governed Validation Object
This progression creates the authoritative object reference upon
which subsequent validation governance depends.
Validation Object Requirements
A governed Validation Object should establish, where applicable:Object Identity
The object must be sufficiently identifiable and distinguishable
from other objects, instances, versions, configurations, or states
that could reasonably be confused with it.
Object Boundary
The structural, informational, operational, temporal, and contextual
boundaries relevant to validation must be sufficiently established.
The boundary should distinguish what belongs to the Validation
Object from what remains outside the object.
Object Version
The version, configuration, release, state, temporal representation,
or other materially relevant instance subject to validation must
be identifiable.
A validation determination applying to one version should not
automatically be assumed to apply to another materially
different version.
Object Relationships
Material relationships with parent objects, component objects,
external systems, dependencies, environments, or other relevant
entities must be identifiable where those relationships may
materially affect validation.
Object Fitness
The object must be sufficiently defined, stable, observable,
accessible, and examinable to support meaningful
governed validation.
Validation Object Types
VOBS is validation-object neutral.Validation Objects may include:
- claims,
- information,
- AI-generated outputs,
- decisions,
- predictions,
- simulations,
- datasets,
- algorithms,
- models,
- AI systems,
- autonomous systems,
- processes,
- operational states,
- methodologies,
- policies,
- documents,
- controls,
- digital assets,
- digital identities,
- physical objects,
- infrastructure components,
- organizational structures,
- and other subjects requiring formal validation governance.
The nature of the Validation Object may change the applicable
criteria, methodology, evidence requirements, and
validation procedures.
It does not remove the requirement to establish the object before
governed validation begins.
Validation Readiness
A candidate subject may become a governed Validation Object whensufficient information exists to determine:
- what the object is,
- what belongs to it,
- what does not belong to it,
- which version, configuration, or state is being examined,
- which relationships and dependencies materially affect it,
- whether it can be meaningfully examined,
- whether material ambiguity has been sufficiently controlled,
- and whether subsequent validation determinations can be reliably associated with it.
Where these conditions cannot be sufficiently established, the
object should remain Validation Not Ready rather than being
classified as invalid.
Failure to establish validation readiness is not evidence that the
object itself is invalid.
Object Change Governance
A validation result applies to the object that wasactually validated.
Material modification of:
- object identity,
- object boundaries,
- composition,
- configuration,
- version,
- dependencies,
- operational state,
- or validation-relevant relationships
may alter the applicability of an existing validation determination.
Such change may require recognition of a modified Validation Object,
establishment of a new Validation Object, restriction of existing
reliance, or revalidation under VALIDOS™.
VOBS therefore establishes the persistent object reference required
to determine whether an existing validation remains applicable
following material change.
Governance Boundary
Validation Object Standard begins when a subject is proposed,submitted, selected, or required for validation.
It ends when that subject has been sufficiently identified, bounded,
versioned, relationally situated, assessed for object fitness, and
established as validation-ready.
VOBS does not determine:
- why validation is required,
- validation scope or depth,
- validity criteria,
- validation methodology,
- technical testing procedures,
- evidence sufficiency,
- source reliability,
- validation execution results,
- validity determination,
- validation state,
- reliance authorization,
- or revalidation requirements.
These responsibilities belong to subsequent VALIDOS™ Parent
Standards or other applicable governance and technical frameworks.
Minimum Governance Requirements
A conforming implementation of VOBS should establish:- 1. a uniquely identifiable Validation Object,
- 2. a defined validation-object boundary,
- 3. an identifiable version, state, or configuration,
- 4. relevant object relationships and material dependencies,
- 5. a determination of Validation Object Fitness,
- 6. a Validation Readiness determination,
- 7. and a persistent reference connecting subsequent validation activities to the established object.

It may consume relevant governed information from those
architectures where necessary to establish a precise Validation
Object while retaining responsibility specifically for
validation-object governance.
