What Is Classification Interoperability Standard?
Classification Interoperability Standard (CIS) is the eighth ParentStandard of CLA™ — Classification Architecture. It governs how
classifications remain compatible, consistently interpreted,
transferable, synchronized, and operationally interoperable across
different systems, organizations, platforms, and governance
environments throughout their complete lifecycle.
Classification Interoperability Standard recognizes that creating
and registering classifications is not sufficient unless they can be
exchanged and reused without losing their meaning or governance
integrity. It provides the governance foundation for compatibility,
semantic consistency, mapping, translation, synchronization, and
trusted cross-domain classification exchange.
