Canonical Definition
Cognitive Layer Integrity defines the non-bypassable conditionsunder which an AI system's cognition remains valid, controlled,
and stable during operation.
A system is cognitively valid only if its reasoning, memory,
and identity operate within defined and enforceable integrity conditions.
A. Standard Abstract
This standard establishes the minimum conditions requiredfor cognition to be considered valid.
It defines the structural requirements that prevent cognitive drift,
inconsistency, and loss of control during operation.
It separates valid cognitive systems from systems
that only appear functional.
C. Core Conditions
A system is valid only if all of the following conditions are satisfied:
- Information used in cognition is verifiable or validated.
- All decisions operate within defined and enforceable boundaries.
- Reasoning remains logically consistent and free of contradiction.
- Memory and context remain stable and are not corrupted.
- The system maintains consistent internal structure and behavior over time.
F. Invalid State
A system is invalid if any of the following occurs:
- information is unverified or bypasses validation
- decisions occur outside defined boundaries
- reasoning is contradictory or unstable
- memory is corrupted or inconsistent
- identity or system behavior becomes fragmented
G. Scope
This standard applies to:
- AI reasoning systems
- autonomous agents
- decision-making systems
- multi-agent environments
- adaptive and learning systems
H. Methodology
Cognitive Layer Integrity is evaluated during operation,not only at design.
It is independent of:
- model architecture
- infrastructure
- vendor
- deployment environment
