Canonical Definition

Herbal Infused Water Module (HIW™) defines the product-specific
conditions under which water may be naturally enriched through
contact with herbal source material while remaining structurally
identifiable as water and suitable for continuous hydration.

Herbal infused water is valid only when plant-based infusion
enriches the medium without transforming water into tea, extract,
supplement, or flavored beverage.

Module Position

This module operates under the Infused Water Standard (IWS™).

IWS™ defines the parent category boundary.
HIW™ defines the herbal application of that boundary.

The module specifies when herbal source materials may be used to
produce valid infused water without loss of hydration identity.

Base

Water remains the primary medium.
Herbal material provides natural contact-based release.
The output remains water.

The process does not create a new beverage system.
It preserves hydration while allowing controlled natural enrichment.

Core Principle

Herbal infusion may enrich water.
It must not redefine it.

A valid herbal infused water system depends on controlled release,
low transformation intensity, and preservation of water identity.

Product Conditions

For herbal infused water to remain valid within this module,
it must:

use water as the dominant medium
use herbal source material suitable for human consumption
rely on passive contact-based release
avoid direct additive substitution
remain suitable for repeated hydration use

Valid herbal source materials may include:

leaves
flowers
roots
stems
whole herbs suitable for water contact

All source materials must remain:

safe
clean
naturally suitable for infusion use

Integrity Principle

Herbal infused water remains valid only when:

infusion is real and contact-based
no additive logic replaces herbal release
no excessive intensity transforms the product into a beverage
system
output remains structurally water

If herbal identity becomes dominant over hydration identity,
the product exits this module.

Minimum Implementation Framework (MIF)

Step 1 — Water Base
Use clean water suitable for repeated hydration.

Minimum requirement:

water must remain the dominant medium
no direct additive enrichment may replace infusion

Step 2 — Herbal Source Selection
Use herbal source material suitable for water contact and human
consumption.

Minimum requirement:

source material must be clean
source material must be naturally suitable
no synthetic flavor substitution is permitted

Step 3 — Infusion Application
Apply a valid infusion process through contact-based release.

Permitted methods may include:

cold infusion
hot infusion
controlled low-intensity decoction where water identity
remains preserved

Minimum requirement:

release must occur through contact
no direct substance addition may simulate infusion

Step 4 — Intensity Control
Control time, temperature, and source intensity.

Minimum requirement:

the process must not transform the output into tea, extract,
or flavor-dominant beverage
hydration identity must remain stronger than sensory
dominance

Step 5 — Output Validation
Confirm final state.

Minimum requirement:

water remains dominant
output is suitable for continuous hydration
product is not structurally classified as a flavored
beverage, extract, or supplement
