What Is Classification Lifecycle Standard?
Classification Lifecycle Standard (CLS) is the sixth Parent Standardof CLA™ — Classification Architecture. It governs how
classifications are activated, maintained, monitored, updated,
versioned, and retired throughout their complete operational
lifecycle to ensure they remain accurate, current, controlled,
traceable, and operationally relevant.
Classification Lifecycle Standard recognizes that creating and
validating a classification is only the beginning of its governance
journey. As operational environments, regulations, knowledge,
technologies, and business requirements evolve, classifications must
also evolve under controlled governance to preserve their long-term
reliability and trustworthiness.
Why Classification Lifecycle Standard Exists
