Canonical Definition

The Voice Identity Module (VIM™) defines how the identity of a voice
used in digital content is declared.

The module enables clear recognition of whether a voice belongs to a real person,
an authorized identity, an imitation, or is unknown.

Declaration

Only one voice identity code may be used:

  • HVI — Human Voice Identity (real person)
  • AVI — Authorized Voice Identity (consent granted)
  • SVI — Sound-alike Voice Imitation
  • UVI — Unknown Voice Identity

Usage

Content Level (required — single code)

One voice identity code must be associated with the content where voice is present.

Examples:

  • HVI
  • AVI
  • SVI
  • UVI

Description Level (required)

The declaration must be included in the description or metadata:

Identity Rule

Voice identity must reflect the actual source of the voice.

  • real person → HVI
  • authorized use → AVI
  • imitation or synthetic reproduction → SVI
