Water Integrity™
Minimal Self-Declaration Framework
Purpose
This framework provides a minimal implementation model enablingproducers to apply the Water Integrity™ Standard through transparent
self-declaration.
The framework establishes a simple disclosure structure allowing water
use in production to be publicly documented.
It does not replace regulatory obligations or certification systems.
Minimal Implementation Model
Water Integrity™ can be implemented through three core steps:
- Identify the water source
- Declare intended water use
- Declare water status and responsibility
Step 1 — Identify the Water
Source
The producer identifies and documents the water source category used inproduction.
Possible categories include:
- municipal water supply
- private well
- surface water (river or lake)
- rainwater collection
- mixed sources
Step 2 — Declare Intended Water
Use
The producer defines how water interacts with the production process.Typical usage categories include:
- irrigation
- washing produce
- ingredient inclusion
- processing use
- cleaning or sanitation
Step 3 — Declare Water Status
The producer declares the known status of the water used in production.Examples of declared status include:
- municipal regulated potable water
- laboratory tested water (test date declared)
- private source with declared status
- non-potable operational water
It requires transparent declaration of the known status.
Step 4 — Responsibility
Declaration
The producer publishes a short public statement acknowledgingresponsibility for the declared information.
Example declaration:
“This production declares water use under the Water Integrity™ Standard.
Water source, intended use, and declared status are transparently
disclosed under producer responsibility.”
The declaration may be published:
- on a website
- in product documentation
- on supplier transparency sheets
- through QR code reference
Documentation Requirements
Minimal implementation requires:
- one water disclosure sheet
- one responsibility declaration
- public accessibility of the information
level.
