Canonical Definition

The Rights & Authorization Module (RAM™) defines who is permitted
to create, reproduce, represent, exhibit, or monetize an asset.

Authorization determines whether an action is valid,
independent of the asset form.

Why This Matters

Without clear authorization:

  • copies may be created without permission
  • representations may be misused
  • ownership may be violated
  • monetization becomes illegitimate

Authorization separates existence from permission.

Minimum Implementation Framework (MIF)

Step 1 — Identify the Asset

Define the asset to which rights are applied.

Step 2 — Identify the Authority

Determine the individual or entity that holds
control over the asset.

Step 3 — Define Permissions

Specify what is allowed:

  • create
  • copy
  • represent
  • exhibit
  • monetize

Step 4 — Assign Authorization Status

Declare whether the action is:

  • authorized
  • partially authorized
  • not authorized

Step 5 — Maintain Traceability

Authorization must remain linked to the asset
