credentials, registries, software platforms, or
implementation technologies.

Why OBIDENITY® Exists
Most identity initiatives focus on authentication, authorization,access management, digital credentials, identity providers, security,
or technical implementation.
These perspectives are essential, but they do not fully answer a more
fundamental question:
How should identity itself be governed?
OBIDENITY® addresses this question by defining the governable identity
spaces that exist throughout the complete identity lifecycle.
Rather than standardizing identity technology, OBIDENITY® standardizes
the governance conditions that enable identity to remain uniquely
identifiable, attributable, ownable, governable, transferable,
continuous, and independently verifiable.

OBIDENITY® does not organize identity governance aroundsoftware components.
Instead, it organizes governance around identity spaces.
Each identity governance space represents a distinct governance
responsibility that exists independently of any specific identity
platform, authentication mechanism, identity provider, registry,
vendor, or implementation technology.
Because identity governance spaces are technology-neutral, the
architecture remains applicable even as identity technologies continue
to evolve.
A Methodology Rather Than an Implementation
OBIDENITY® is a governance methodology.It is not an implementation framework.
The architecture defines what identity governance conditions must
remain true.
Organizations remain free to determine how those conditions are
