Canonical Definition
Permission Integrity Standard (PIS) defines the structural conditionsunder which permissions associated with a governed identity remain
legitimate, attributable, verifiable, enforceable, revocable, and
continuously governable throughout the complete identity lifecycle.
PIS governs identity permissions.
The standard establishes the governance conditions required to ensure
that every permission granted over a governed identity remains
explicitly authorized, appropriately limited, continuously verifiable,
and governance-approved.
Authority determines who may govern.
Permissions determine what may be done.
PIS governs those permissions.
Standard Abstract
A legitimate authority does not automatically possessunlimited rights.
Every governance action requires appropriate permission.
Permissions define operational access.
Permissions define operational use.
Permissions define operational modification.
Without governed permissions:
- unauthorized access may occur,
- excessive privileges may emerge,
- governance boundaries become unclear,
- operational misuse becomes difficult to prevent,
- governance trust deteriorates.
PIS establishes the governance conditions required for legitimate,
controlled, and continuously governable permissions.
