Defining the Structural Foundations of Methodology
Methodologies are widely used across science, engineering,business, technology, governance, education, healthcare, and many
other disciplines. Despite their importance, the term methodology
is frequently applied to processes, frameworks, procedures,
guidelines, standards, or collections of best practices that do
not necessarily constitute a true methodology.
Methodology Definition establishes the structural principles that

documentation, or operational guidance. Rather than defining a
particular methodology, it defines the characteristics that enable
methodologies to be consistently identified, evaluated, developed,
