Canonical Definition
Sustainability Integrity Module defines the structural conditionsunder which a methodology, system, device, hardware structure, AI
environment, autonomous process, or deployment pathway preserves
sustainability as a condition of ethical validity.
A system satisfies SIM only if:
- sustainability is treated as a structural condition, not as optional messaging
- destructive environmental or resource logic is not accepted as a normal operating condition
- long-term viability is not sacrificed for short-term gain
- operational design does not depend on irresponsible depletion, contamination, or structurally unsustainable
- expansion
- system validity is denied where sustainability breakdown remains structurally tolerated
A system that depends on structurally unsustainable conditions does not
satisfy SIM.
Module Function
SIM defines the sustainability boundary of ethical validity.It ensures that no methodology, system, or technology may pass ethical
layer conditions if its operation, scale, or deployment logic depends on
structurally irresponsible ecological, material, or long-term resource
conditions.
The module applies wherever systems influence environmental continuity,
material use, operational lifecycle, or long-term systemic
sustainability.
Minimum Implementation Framework (MIF)
Step 1 — Define Sustainability Exposure
The organization must define where the system affects ecological,material, or long-term operational sustainability.
Minimum requirement:
- sustainability impact boundaries are identifiable
- direct and indirect sustainability exposure is recognized
- ecological and material effects are not treated as undefined externalities
Step 2 — Define Unsustainable Pathways
The organization must identify where structural unsustainability mayoccur.
Minimum requirement:
- destructive dependencies are explicitly mapped
- depletion, contamination, waste, or unsustainable scale pathways are visible
- silent tolerance of unsustainable operation is excluded
Step 3 — Define Sustainability Conditions
The system must define the conditions under which sustainability remainspreserved.
Minimum requirement:
- sustainability conditions are explicit
- long-term viability is considered before reliance
- sustainability is not reduced to narrative or post-failure correction only
Step 4 — Define Restriction and Escalation Conditions
The system must define when operation, scale, or deployment must berestricted due to unsustainable conditions.
Minimum requirement:
- restriction conditions are explicit
- escalation logic exists for sustainability breakdown
- continued operation under structurally unsustainable conditions is not treated as valid
Step 5 — Preserve Long-Term Integrity
The system must not privilege immediate efficiency, profit, or scaleover long-term sustainability integrity.
Minimum requirement:
- short-term gain does not override sustainability conditions
- growth does not justify structural depletion or destruction
- system legitimacy remains subordinate to sustainable continuity
Step 6 — Restrict Invalid Deployment
The system must not be treated as ethically valid if unsustainableconditions remain structurally present and ungoverned.
Minimum requirement:
- invalid sustainability conditions are identifiable
- unresolved destructive pathways block ethical passage
- performance alone does not restore sustainability validity

If sustainability breakdown remains structurally tolerated, ethicalvalidity has not been achieved.
