Canonical DefinitionBehavioral Integrity Standard (BIS) defines the structural conditions under
which AI behavior remains legitimate, consistent, predictable, explainable,
governable, observable, traceable, and operationally trustworthy throughout
the complete behavioral lifecycle.
BIS governs AI behavioral integrity.
The standard establishes the foundational conditions required to ensure that
AI systems behave consistently with approved objectives, governance policies,
operational constraints, and legitimate behavioral expectations throughout
operational reality.
AI behavior may evolve.
AI behavior must not lose its integrity.
BIS governs that integrity.
A. Standard Abstract
Every AI system produces behavior.The value of AI depends not only on what it knows or remembers, but on how it
behaves during execution.
Behavior may drift.
Behavior may become inconsistent.
Behavior may become unpredictable.
Without behavioral integrity, trustworthy AI governance cannot exist.
BIS establishes the governance foundation upon which every other behavioral
standard of AIG™ is built.
D. Why This Standard Exists
Many AI failures are not failures of intelligence.They are failures of behavior.
