About Audit Assurance Standard - (AAS)
What Is Audit Assurance Standard?
Audit Assurance Standard is the tenth and final Parent Standard of ADIT® —Continuous Audit & Evidence Governance Architecture™. It governs how the
complete audit lifecycle is independently evaluated, validated, monitored, and
continuously assured to ensure that the audit itself remains trustworthy,
objective, complete, independent, and methodologically sound.
Audit Assurance Standard recognizes that preserving audit records alone is not
sufficient. Organizations must also demonstrate that the audit methodology,
evidence, findings, responses, preservation activities, and governance
controls can themselves withstand independent examination and provide lasting
confidence in the audit process.
Why Audit Assurance Standard Exists
Organizations, regulators, auditors, and stakeholders require confidence notonly in audit findings, but also in the audit process that produced them.
Without independent assurance, audits may appear complete while containing
methodological weaknesses, incomplete evidence, inconsistent execution, or
compromised independence. A standardized assurance methodology is therefore
required to evaluate the quality and trustworthiness of the audit itself.
Audit Assurance Standard exists to ensure that every completed audit can be
independently trusted, objectively evaluated, and continuously assured.
Use Case 1
ScenarioAn organization completes a comprehensive governance audit of a long-running
autonomous AI platform.
Application
Audit Assurance Standard governs the independent evaluation of the audit
methodology, evidence quality, findings, responses, preservation activities,
and governance controls to confirm that the audit itself is trustworthy.
Result
The completed audit receives independent assurance, providing long-term
confidence in its conclusions and governance value.
Use Case 2
ScenarioA financial regulator performs an independent quality review of an external
audit conducted on a regulated financial institution.
Application
Audit Assurance Standard governs the evaluation of audit quality,
methodological consistency, auditor independence, evidence sufficiency, and
overall audit reliability.
Result
The audit process itself becomes independently verified, strengthening
regulatory confidence, accountability, and long-term governance trust.
