Canonical Definition
Autonomous Constraint Standard (ACS) defines the structuralconditions under which autonomous operational constraints are
established, enforced, monitored, and preserved to ensure that
autonomous operations remain within mandatory governance, safety,
policy, and operational limits throughout the complete autonomous
operational lifecycle.
ACS governs autonomous operational constraints.
The standard establishes the governance conditions required to
ensure that autonomous systems operate only within predefined
operational constraints regardless of capability, authority, or
operational objectives.
Identity establishes the operational actor.
Authority establishes permission.
Execution performs the operation.
Constraints define what must never be violated.
ACS governs those constraints.
Standard Abstract
Autonomous execution without constraints creates uncontrolledautonomy.
Every autonomous operation requires defined operational limits that
remain continuously enforceable.
Without governed constraints:
- operational boundaries become unclear,
- policy violations become more likely,
- safety may be compromised,
- governance loses operational control,
- autonomous behavior becomes less predictable.
ACS establishes the governance conditions that preserve safe,
controlled, and policy-compliant autonomous operation.

Autonomous Constraint Standard provides the governance layerresponsible for defining, enforcing, monitoring, and preserving
autonomous operational constraints throughout autonomous execution.
Its role is to ensure that autonomous operations never exceed
mandatory governance, operational, safety, or policy limits.
